by Catherine West

Releasing today!! This is a brand new book by an incredible author, Catherine West. Read it! Now!! You will not regret it! 🙂

My Thoughts:

From the very first line: “My husband is leaving me.” This book grabbed my attention, and did not let go!

I’ve only read one other book by this author, prior to this one–and I loved that one! I found this one to be even better!

Savannah is in so much pain, and at such a very difficult place in life. She’s trying to come to grips with the end of her marriage. Moving on. All of that.

This book displays such real emotion. For anyone who is or has been married, you will be able to feel these emotions right with Savannah. A good marriage is hard, and takes work. We’ve all faced hard times.

I was warned before I started reading about the need to have tissues handy. I found myself needing them quite frequently. This book just brought out my tears.

I could feel the hurts right with them.

Savannah. And then there’s Kevin. He knows what he did was wrong. But what about grace. And forgiveness?!

And where is God in the midst of all these hard times?

So many life lessons are shown here. Marriage problems. An affair. Seemingly inevitable divorce. Death of a child. Going on with life. Grieving. Faithfulness. Forgiveness.

Desire for revenge, and instead, rebuilding trust. Offering love even when you don’t feel like it.

This book is written with a gut-wrenching realness that will leave your emotions all twisted and tangled in knots.

The conclusion…well, I don’t want to leave any spoilers here…but you will definitely want to keep reading until you finish–it’s “good to the last drop”!  And this story will stay with me for a long time.

Here is the back cover copy, from Amazon:

Sometimes we’re allowed to glimpse the beauty within the brokenness . . .

Savannah Barrington has always found solace at her parents’ lake house in the Berkshires, and it’s the place that she runs to when her husband of over twenty years leaves her. Though her world is shaken, and the future uncertain, she finds hope through an old woman’s wisdom, a little girl’s laughter, and a man who’s willing to risk his own heart to prove to Savannah that she is worthy of love.

But soon Savannah is given a challenge she can’t run away from: Forgiving the unforgivable. Amidst the ancient gardens and musty bookstores of the small town she’s sought refuge in, she must reconcile with the grief that haunts her, the God pursuing her, and the wounds of the past that might be healed after all.

Where Hope Begins is the story of grace in the midst of brokenness, pointing us to the miracles that await when we look beyond our own expectations.
