Book Review – Called To Protect

Called To Protect by Lynette EasonCTP51syeW-6sgL

Here’s another incredible suspense novel, the second in the series, from one of my favorite suspense authors!

This is more about the St John family, and I absolutely love them.

Chloe is a cop. She’s assigned to a case that keeps pulling her in further and further…and she’s still trying to solve the mystery of what happened to her niece that disappeared.

I loved the K9 element that appeared in this book. The talents and abilities of these special dogs is absolutely incredible.

The one thing I did not like in this book was the subject of human trafficking. It was very realistically portrayed, and felt so sickeningly real. It is an awful thing to have right in our own country, and maybe even next door. Extremely sobering. (maybe not a book for young girls to read)

The suspense. The twists and turns. The nail-biting action packed take down of events. All of these combined to make an unforgettable story.

Amazon says this:

For the past year, Chloe St. John has been working as a K-9 cop with her German shepherd partner, Hank. After being dumped by her fiancé for another woman, Chloe has decided that Hank is just about the only male she likes. She’s over the whole romance thing and focuses her attention on doing her job. Because a serious case of human trafficking with connections to her missing cousin just landed in her lap.

When US Marshall Blake MacCallum’s daughter goes missing, he’s ordered to kill the judge he’s protecting and tell no one about his daughter’s disappearance or she will die. Blake races against the clock to rescue his daughter while Chloe and Hank are asked to be a part of the task force assembled to bring down the traffickers. Chloe finds herself attracted to the silent, suffering man, but thanks to her previous bad judgment, she wonders if she can trust him. And can Blake trust himself around this firecracker of a woman?

  1. While it was unnerving to read about the Human trafficking, I think it is good to make young women aware. I get what you are saying about this not being a book for real young girls, but I think it’s a good one for teenagers to read.

    1. Yes, I agree! My daughters are also avid readers, and two of them are “young” teen readers, so I was thinking of them when I said that I wouldn’t recommend it for young girls, my older teen daughter I would be ok with having her read it, because I think it does make her more aware that the dangers are real!
