2018 Reading Challenge

At the beginning of this year, I posted a reading challenge.

I had never done something like this before, so wasn’t quite sure how it would all work out. I only had a few people willing to take the plunge with me (you know who you are!! 🙂 ) , and I’ve not done so good at posting updates about this.

But….now we’ve reached the last day of the year, and I wanted to do one more post about this reading challenge!

So…for those of you who agreed to do this with me, I want to hear from you! 🙂 Did you complete this challenge? 🙂 You can tell me about it by leaving a comment here, or if you prefer, send me an email at allofakindmom@gmail.com.

I had promised a prize to the participants, based on how many of the categories you meet.

Here is the original challenge again:

And…I did actually complete all these categories! The one I struggled with the most was finding a fiction one for #14, written by an author with your initials. (I read a nonfiction one earlier this year, but had hoped to do fiction…) After posing the question of what author has my initials to the Avid Readers Group that I am a member of, I was given several excellent suggestions, and started reading a book by Randy Singer…but I am running out of time and will not have time to finish that one today. So I am defaulting to my earlier one. 😉

Anyway, in case you’re interested…here are the books that I read for this challenge:

Many of these categories I could have filled in with at least two other titles. And then there were of course some categories that I really struggled to find anything to put in it. And there were some books that I read specifically so I would have something for a certain category. But it was fun! 🙂

Now…are you interested in doing one for 2019? I am going to use one from the aforementioned Avid Readers Group, rather than coming up with my own…but I would love to have you join me! Leave me a comment here or shoot me an email! 😉 If I have enough interest, I will post this on a separate tab and have it available at the top of my website.

(side note about the Avid Reader’s Group–this is an interesting facebook group–for Avid Readers of Christian Fiction, if you would enjoy being added to this group, let me know, and I can send you an invitation..there’s lots of great book recommendations, book reviews, freebies, and just general book talk (strictly related to CF going on))

I hope to do a post…either today…or later on this week… featuring the 10 top books I read in 2018, so stay tuned!

  1. I kept track of the books I filled in but my list is at home and I’m not😮. I definitely didn’t fill all the categories. I think I’ll try again for 2019. The 2018 challenge did get me to read several books I would not have otherwise.
