Yesterday I received some bookmail that I want to tell you about this morning.
Crown by Nancy Kaser
I signed up to do a review of this book, but wasn’t quite sure what to expect.
The saying on the cover hit me between the eyes.
Very convicting.
Yes, this is just what I need.
If you are married, then you probably know what I’m talking about (if you’re not married, you probably won’t want to read this post… 😉 )
Marriage is hard. Having a good marriage means lots of work. It means learning how to get along with someone, even when you don’t agree, being willing to get some of those rough edges knocked off. (that hurts!)
I am married to a wonderful man. He’s been my best friend for a long time. Our 19th anniversary is this month. I wouldn’t want to do my life without him. But I would be less than honest if I’d say we always get along great. I feel that most of the hard things I’ve dealt with in marriage is because of my own sin nature. Selfishness. Pride. Stubbornness…my list could go on and on. Marriage has a way of showing how ugly I really can be at times. (I’m not saying this is where everyone else is at, I realize we are all at different places in life….just saying how I’ve found it to be for myself)
I won’t really give you a review about this book today, because I’m just breaking it open and beginning to read today. I am scheduled to do a blog review in December, so I hope to be able to give a full review then.
But…I would like to tell you just a few small things about this book.
One of the first things Ms. Kaser asks – If you could ask Jesus for three specific things in your marriage, what would they be?
and…the first chapter is all about making sure that I am really a Christian. This is the key to any good marriage.
I’d love to hear from you!
